Whether you blend it up for breakfast or as a snack, this healthy smoothie with spinach will become your new favorite green drink. Yogurt and banana give this pineapple smoothie its rich, satisfying texture.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup fresh baby spinach

  • 1 cup peeled, sliced kiwifruit

  • 1 banana, sliced

  • ½ cup plain low-fat yogurt

  • ¼ cup chopped fresh pineapple

  • ¼ - ½ cup orange juice

  • 2 tablespoon flaxseed meal or chia seeds*

  • Chopped fresh pineapple and/or peeled kiwifruit slices (optional)

Directions

  1. In a blender combine spinach, the 1 cup kiwifruit, the banana, yogurt, the 1/4 cup pineapple, the orange juice, and flaxseed meal. Cover and blend until nearly smooth, stopping to scrape down sides of container as necessary. Evenly divide between two glasses. If desired, top with additional pineapple and/or kiwifruit slices.

*Tip:

Chia seeds are extremely rich in omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. Look for them in the natural foods aisle of your grocery store.
