The relaxed spirit of the beautiful region, which includes France, Italy, and Spain, may be difficult to replicate if you're not there, but with Dolce & Gabbana and Smeg’s new line of kitchen appliances and accessories, you can add the crisp blues and whites of la dolce vita to your kitchen for a revitalizing upgrade. Smeg is known for its high-quality products, popularized for its wide range of color choices in everything from refrigerators to cookware. The curved designs and petite size of the appliances reflect its Italian roots, where the company was founded in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzoni, Sr. The collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, the Italian fashion house founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in 1985, brings the two colorful and iconic brands together for the Blu Mediterraneo collection—and it couldn't be more on trend. 2024 Kitchen Trends: Earth Tones, Beverage Centers, and More With blue named the Color of the Year by multiple paint manufacturers, the rise of curvy kitchens, and maximalist design returning to interiors, Blu Mediterraneo embodies elements of this year's most touted cooking spaces. The color scheme also brings about a sense of tranquility you could only get from relaxing on a beach along the Spanish coast. Smeg Smeg and Dolce & Gabbana first collaborated in 2017, when the two brands introduced the Sicily Is My Love collection in colorful designs incorporating red, yellow, blue, green, and orange. The bold patterns feature classic Sicilian design symbols like lemons, citrus, and cherries and highlight the craftsmanship of Italian artisans. Unsurprisingly with a high fashion brand like Dolce & Gabbana, these collections are on the pricey side. The refrigerator in the Blue Mediterraneo Collection, available at Williams Sonoma, rings up at $5,500. Small appliances are are more affordable, but they still take a bite out of your budget: The toaster is $700. For your morning caffè, you can pick up a coffee grinder for $900, a manual espresso machine for $1,500, and a milk frother for $700. If you prefer juice or tea for your Al Fresco-style breakfast (a must in the summer), the electric kettle and juicer cost $700 each. 13 Mediterranean Breakfast Recipes You’ll Want to Eat All Day Each of the small appliances has a slightly different design, adding a bold statement to any kitchen, but to make that statement, you don’t need to have the entire collection displayed on your counter—just one of these beautiful pieces is enough to bring a touch of the Cerulean sea to your home.
