Yelp just released its list of Top 100 Places to Eat in 2024, and it’s feeding us (literally) with recommendations for noodles, tacos, soups, pizzas, pasta, burritos, bowls, ice creams, and so much more—from all over the country.

“This year, our huge, food-loving community reviewed and rated their faves from coast to coast, so you can find lots of new restaurants to love, whether you’re at home or on the road,” Yelp said in a press release. “There’s a place for every taste in 2024—and we’ve got 100 to choose from!”

The data science team at Yelp analyzed user submissions to thousands of top restaurants by ratings, number of reviews, and volume of submissions. They also got a bit of help from Yelp’s community managers to narrow it down to the final list: It's full of ramen shops, plant-based Latin food, and Korean fusion. Just three states accounted for 30% of this year’s rankings, with Arizona, Florida, and Texas providing their residents with the best restaurants in the country.

At Yelp, we’re seeing more and more diners inspired to seek out experiential and memorable dining experiences—while still embracing favorite comfort foods like noodles and pizzas," said Tara Lewis, Yelp's trend expert. "So it’s no surprise that vegan Mexican along with noodles are trending cuisines on this year’s list."

A Rundown of Yelp's Top 5 Restaurants of 2024

James Beard Award-semifinalist Wendy Garcia is the owner and chef at the #1 restaurant: Tumerico, a vegetarian Mexican spot in Tucson, Arizona. Along with this year's accolade, its five-star reviews and loyal customers also earned it the #1 place on Yelp’s Top Southwest Restaurants list in 2023. Her other Tucson restaurant, La Chaiteria, landed at #68 on the list.

“When I opened Tumerico, I wanted people to try traditional Mexican food, but vegetarian and vegan,” Garcia said. “It’s all about those recipes I made with mom, dad, and grandma—tamales, chilaquiles, enchiladas, barbacoa—whatever Mexican dish you can think of, we can make [a vegetarian version] at Tumerico.”

The #2 restaurant is located in St. Louis, Missouri: Menya Rui is a small, 24-seat restaurant hailed for being a “noodle haven.” Steven Pursley, the chef and owner of the restaurant, has been named Food & Wine’s “Best New Chef,” and the restaurant is first-come, first-served, and dine-in only—so get in line early if you want a spot. And if you do get a chance to eat there, you have to try the pork shoyu ramen, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and chef Pursley's favorite, tsukemen (dipping style ramen served in a vinegary scallop broth).

Sunny Side Kitchen in Escondido, California, received the third spot on the list. This cute, coastal cafe from owners Kate and Bob Carpenter serves breakfast, brunch, and “drool-worthy” desserts with tons of gluten-free options. To start their day, regulars often go for The Works, a breakfast sandwich with egg, bacon, avocado, and Havarti and muenster cheeses on sourdough.

Fourth on the list goes to GS Cafe and Ethiopian Cuisine in Covina, California. It shouldn’t be a shock to anyone who’s had Ethiopian food that an Ethiopian restaurant would make the top five—and this isn’t just any restaurant. The family-run cafe really knows its comfort food, so much so that it was also voted one of the Top Places to Eat in San Gabriel Valley. The popular GS platter comes with "melt-in-your-mouth tender" doro wot (chicken stew), key wot (beef stew), and eight vegetarian sides.

Order up homemade pasta, veal shank served over a creamy champagne risotto, and Chilean sea bass—all customer favorites—at Frantellino, the fifth-restaurant on this list located in Coral Gables, Florida. It made the top 10 for the Best of Florida lists in both 2022 and 2023, thanks to third-generation restaurateur Beto DiCarlo.

And that’s just the top five—there are 95 more restaurants to explore. Check out the full list here for all the details.
